Since 1972, the Association des Donneurs de Voix has been recording, organizing and distributing audiobooks across the hundred Since 1972, the Association des Donneurs de Voix has been recording, organizing and distributing audiobooks across the hundred Bibliothèques Sonores across France. Over 2000 volunteers have given their voice for the benefit of more than 17,000 adults and children with visual, motor or other disabilities. The Donneurs de Voix volunteers have created digital audiobook versions of more than 120,000 titles, 20,000 of which were downloadable and 30 of which were press titles.
In 2021, Odigo supported Les Donneurs de Voix with a donation of €20,000, which helped them invest in equipment to facilitate the recording of books. This donation also helped the association undergo a technological transformation as they converted their previously recorded material so their listeners could listen to audiobooks in the Daisy format.
“Sharing the pleasure of reading with our 17,000 beneficiaries is the ambition of our association, and of the thousand voice donors across France. We are therefore grateful for Odigo’s financial support, and we welcome Odigo’s employees, who as volunteers will actively contribute to the fulfillment of our goal,” Pierre-Marie Lecerf, President of L’Association des Donneurs de Voix.
Supporting their endeavors is also an opportunity for Odigo employees to get involved in a unique bit of charitable work. In 2021, over 20 members of the Odigo community donated their voices for the recording of three short story collections released by Donneurs de Voix. Excerpts were presented at Les Bibliothèques Sonores’ annual congress.
Erwan Le Duff, CEO of Odigo, summarized the significance of the project and what it brings to Odigo team members. “Access to culture for people who are unable to read is very important nowadays, which is why I am very pleased to be able to renew Odigo’s support for Donneurs de Voix. Following the successful recording of audiobooks by our employees in 2021, I am delighted to see such enthusiasm for helping an association that is as human, committed and open as we are.” The partnership is immensely enjoyable for all involved; participants cited the pleasure of giving a part of their time and voice for a good cause, as well as the cooperative experience, as especially beneficial. This year a further 3 new collective audio books are planned for Odigo volunteers and the first group has already started recording.
Odigo takes great pride in getting involved in community engagement. Last December, Odigo employees demonstrated their values for the benefit of four associations during the second edition of the company’s Engagement Days. Odigo continues to support initiatives that resonate with its people and reinforce its values. It is with absolute pleasure that we look forward to working together with Donneurs de Voix and Les Bibliothèques Sonores again this year.
